3 Ingredient Appetizer – Sweet & Sour Meatballs
Do you need a quick appetizer? Something to supplement your party buffet? Do you have a picky toddler?
Several years ago I was volunteered to host a Super Bowl Party. I was struggling to come up with snacks/appetizers. This was before I knew what Facebook was and long before Pinterest existed.
Thankfully my aunt shared this recipe with me.
This recipe has become a staple of all my parties and as such my 5 year-old son’s favorite dish. He actually requests these on ordinary days from time to time.
There are various versions of this recipe online but I promise mine is by far the easiest!
1 jar (12 oz) chili sauce
1 jar grape jelly (18 oz or standard jar)
2 lb bag (32oz) frozen meatballs
The last jar of jelly I purchased was 18 oz and the bag of meatballs was smaller than 32 oz but that just meant I had extra sauce which was a bonus!
No measuring required!
- Pour meatballs into a slow cooker/crockpot.
- Combine the entire jar of chili sauce and the entire jar of jelly in a small bowl and pour over meatballs.
- Cook on low for 3-5 hours or until meatballs are heated through.
- Serve with toothpicks
I just made these tonight as per my son’s request. My crockpot was busy cooking a roast so I made these on the stovetop instead. If you don’t have a slow cooker/crockpot you can make them on the stovetop too. Just grab a medium pot, combine the chili sauce and jelly over medium heat (until thoroughly combined), add your meatballs and cook until heated through (25-30 minutes).
